The Langham, Venice launching on the island of Murano in 2023

The Langham Venice

In 2023, Langham Hospitality Group will be unveiling a stunning property in Venice for luxury hospitality enthusiasts, representing the group’s very first project in Italy.

Boasting direct frontage on the Venetian Lagoon, The Langham, Venice will be situated on the island of Murano, long revered for its centuries-old tradition of glass making. It will be home to 138 stunningly appointed rooms.

The property will be housed in the former Casino Mocenigo which can trace its legacy to the early 1600s.  The historic building is an important illustration of Venetian architecture enriched by important frescoes with classical themes dedicated to music, poetry and love.

CEO, Langham Hospitality Group, Stefan Leser enthused on the news: “Venice remains one of the world’s leading leisure destinations and we are delighted to have found such an exceptional site on which to develop our first hotel in Italy. The Langham, Venice will provide an exclusive leisure experience that blends the finest elements of the local Venetian culture and heritage with personalised intuitive service that are the hallmarks of The Langham luxury experience.”

Matteo Thun & Partners, a Milan-based architecture and design studio, has been selected to oversee the extensive renovations at The Langham, Venice.  Design for the guest rooms and public spaces will incorporate modern amenities and will be inspired by the unique features drawn from the building’s rich history. A defining architectural feature of the hotel is the magnificent courtyard, which will showcase the outdoor swimming pool and manicured garden, as well as boasting outdoor dining spaces.

Upon opening, The Langham, Venice will offer two restaurants and a cooking school, allowing guests to learn the art of fine Italian cuisine, as well as Alfresco bars, one of which will be located on the rooftop. Other facilities will include the group’s signature Chuan Spa, providing wellness therapies and treatments based on the ancient healing philosophies of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM,) a fitness centre, an elegant ballroom and multifunction rooms.

As for its location, The Langham, Venice stands on the southeastern shore of Murano and is a superb site from which to explore Basilica dei Santa Maria e San Donato, the outstanding Mueso del Vetro (glass museum) and renowned foundries that have existed for centuries.

Leser added: “The opening of The Langham, Venice will be an important milestone for the brand as we continue to cultivate our presence in Europe. We look forward to elevating our guests’ extraordinary experiences at this spectacular hotel, and we are proud to play a part in upholding the fine traditions of Venetian luxury hospitality.”
