The Tourism Information and Research Center (MAS) – the statistical division of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage – has revealed that the number of jobs within the transport sector has dramatically increased this year to 220,076, and anticipates that it will rise to 252,154 by the end of 2017.
Jobs within the KSA’s transport industry range from air transport, maritime transport, and land transport.
MAS also reported that the number of direct job opportunities in the tourism sector until the year 2014 reached more than 795,000. This is expected to increase to more than 840,000 jobs by the end of this year. The number of indirect jobs until the end of 2014 reached more than 397,000, and this is expected to exceed 420,000 by the end of 2015.
Adding to this, it is expected that employment opportunities in the KSA’s tourism sector will be in the range of 1.7 million jobs by 2020 – this represents direct and indirect jobs within the labour market for the tourism sector and other sectors relating to and benefiting from tourism.
