Travelport has announced changes to its Middle East and South Asia (MESA) management team.
Joining travelport as commercial director for India and Sri Lanka is Rick Saggar, a seasoned airline and travel industry executive. Saggar previously worked for Flynas and gained experience with Travelport in the UK earlier on in his career.
As commercial director for India and Sri Lanka, his primary focus will be working with Travelport’s distributor in India, ITQ, to drive the Travelport business forward for this strategic sub-region.
Moving on, Kathryn Wallington has assumed the position of country manager for the UAE. Boasting almost 12 years of Travelport experience, Wallington joins the UAE team from Travelport’s UK headquarters, where she most recently headed up business development for Southern Europe and North Africa.
These appointments come hot on the heels of the announcement of Matthew Powell to the role of managing director – Middle East and South Asia late last year. The management changes have been made to respond to and maximise the growing opportunities Travelport is working on in the region, and enable the commercial team to meet the needs of their customers.
Powell commented: “These changes will bring a new zeal and focus to our MESA regional team as we work to enable travel providers and their evolving technologies to deliver the widest choice of relevant content to travel providers and travellers in the region. Our 2016 successes and new strategic partnerships are testament to our product leadership and superior customer engagement; this expanded and more focused MESA management team will allow us to drive this success forward in 2017. I welcome Rick Saggar and Kathryn Wallington to the team and look forward to working with them to continue to redefine travel commerce in the Middle East and South Asia.”
