Travelport has launched a new Stay Safe feature for agents connected to its API or Smartpoint agency desktop solution.
A searchable amenity, Stay Safe allows hotels to communicate to travel agents that they have signed up to industry-wide safety initiatives, making it easier for travel agents to share information that travellers feel is fundamental in their hotel decisions. This vital information is featured within the agent’s booking workflow.
Global head of agency sales, Travelport, Jason Toothman explained: “The information travellers want about the properties they’re considering hotel stays at has changed through the course of 2020. Adding a way for hotels to clearly communicate with travel agencies, who can then share this information with their customers, is a simple but important way for Travelport to make the agency workflow more efficient and less frustrating.
“As our industry recovers from the impacts of the global pandemic, Travelport is doing all it can to support initiatives which will help people travel safely,” Toothman added.
Since Coronavirus struck, a number of trade and government bodies, such as the World Travel and Tourism Council and the World Health Organization, have issued guidelines to support the recovery of the hotel sector, encompassing hotel cleaning practices, social interactions and workplace protocols.
