Turkish Airlines and Amadeus Gulf recently hosted a bowling tournament for more than 100 UAE-based travel agents in Abu Dhabi, to celebrate a fruitful 2017.
The event was organised to celebrate and recognise the success of the local travel community, while also encouraging heightened cooperation for 2018.
The travel agents had the opportunity to win various prizes, including bundles of business class and economy class round-trip tickets to Europe and to Turkey.
General manager, Turkish Airlines – Abu Dhabi, Hasan Demir commented on the event: “It is important to strengthen our relationships with travel partners for mutual growth, and during this past year the travel community has had every reason to celebrate their efforts in advancing the industry forward.”
Meanwhile, sales director – Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, Amadeus Gulf, Jauhar Abdul Gafoor declared: “Shaping the future of travel is a journey we are all on and we are all invested in. Amadeus does this by connecting key players in the travel industry, and that mission is something we believe extends even beyond the workplace.”
This year, air travel demand in the Middle East is estimated to increase by seven per cent. Adding to this, national airlines are predicting that net profits will improve to $600 million – up from $300 in 2017 – according to statements from the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
Among MENA economies, the UAE s expected to be one of the best performers over the coming five years.
