Further enhancing its destination portfolio, Turkish Airlines has launched services to Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
Samarkand represents the airline’s second destination in Uzbekistan, after its capital city, Tashkent.
CEO, Turkish Airlines, Bilal Ekşi delivered a speech at the inauguration ceremony, which was held at Samarkand Airport: “Our customers will be able to fly to Samarkand from 121 countries, through direct flights. I believe that this pearl city, which hosts the madrasahs, mosques, museums and architectural masterpieces, will progress in tourism in a short time.”
Ekşi further noted that the new route will strengthen ties between the two countries.
The Istanbul-Samarkand route will be operated twice weekly in both directions.
