On January 25, 2021, Sharjah International Airport (SIA) welcomed Vistara’s very first flight from Delhi, India.
A traditional water canon salute welcomed the Indian carrier, followed by a reception to mark the occasion, which was attended by Consul General of India in Dubai, Dr Aman Puri, his accompanying delegation and a number of airport officials.
Vistara selected Sharjah as its latest destination due to its strategic location. SIA’s integrated infrastructure and recent expansion provide distinctive facilities that embody the airport’s commitment to providing the highest standards of services to ensure the comfort, safety and happiness of travellers.
Enthusing on the launch was chairman, Sharjah Airport Authority, HE Ali Salim Al Midfa: “The launch of these flights between Sharjah and both Delhi and Mumbai reinforce the airport’s esteemed position as an international aviation hub. We are constantly striving to enhance travellers’ experiences through a range of integrated services within the airport, as well as the opportunity to discover the cultural heritage of Sharjah and all of its tourist and entertainment attractions.”
He continued: “We are keen to provide the highest standards of service to our customers, and the partnership between airlines such as Vistara is evidence of the trust and confidence placed in us.”
Also commenting on the development was CEO, Vistara, Leslie Thing: “We at Vistara are extremely pleased to start this new route between Delhi and Sharjah and look forward to also launching our Mumbai-Sharjah route very soon. As the best airline from India, we are delighted to be able to offer our valued passengers even more routes and are constantly looking to expand our network and provide seamless services.”
